What we do

The Vancouver Island Public Interest Research Group (VIPIRG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to research, education, advocacy, and action in the public interest. Located in the Student Union Building of the University of Victoria, VIPIRG is a place where students and community members connect to work together on social justice and environmental issues.

Students and community members oversee VIPIRG through a volunteer coordinating collective. VIPIRG staff and volunteers organize events, do action-oriented community-based research, sustain action over time through ongoing working groups, and publish educational materials. We are working with the University of Victoria Sustainability Project to complete a sustainability assessment of UVic.

Students and community members can borrow book, films, and magazines from our resource library, and get a free copy of The Murrelet or RE:ACTION, our member newsletter and archived newsletter.
