Current ActivitiesThis fall IPSWG has been focusing on learning about issues that are affecting Indigenous communities in this region, as well as co-sponsoring "Women Confronting Imperialism: Cultural Resistance to Globalization & Colonialism", a December event featuring presentations by Chiinuuks, local Nuu-chah-nulth activist, and Cecilia Santiago Vera, social psychologist and activist from Chiapas, Mexico. We are supporting, in appropriate ways, actions by the WSÁNEĆ people to stop further development on LÁU,WEL,NEW, as well as the Stop the Violence Movement in Nuu-chah-nulth communities. IPSWG has also started a monthly decolonization discussion group. For a list of past IPSWG activities, click here. We will continue to expand our communication with community groups and invite members of local Nations to provide guidance for the group's direction and activities. Community participation is crucial to ensuring important issues are raised and acted upon in the work that IPSWG does. For more information, please contact us. |
