--------------------------------------
A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground.
Then it is done, no matter how brave its warriors or how strong its
weapons - Cheyenne proverb
--------------------------------------
The purpose of this march was to raise awareness and to announce our
collective intent to stop the violence in our nations. We visited all 15
of the Nuu-chah-nulth nations on Vancouver Island. The march was inspired
by the initial efforts of the Tla-o-qui-aht women in 2005 and it is there
that we finished the walk on May 14th, Mother’s Day.
Presented by the Stop the Violence NCN organizers and the Indigenous
Peoples Solidarity Working Group & VIPIRG.
