VIPIRG’s Priorities

Over the past year, VIPIRG has been busy internally with staff transitions and a strategic visioning process. Our current focus is on making poverty visible and addressing its root causes. We see the rest of our priorities through this lens. Our work prioritizes:

  • ongoing relationships with local Nations, communities, territories and ecosystems;
  • local groups, safer spaces & dynamics, and personal & collective learning processes;
  • actively challenging inter-locking aspects of oppression including, ableism, capitalism, colonialism, classism, heterosexism, racism and sexism;
  • action-based research;
  • environmental justice, self-determination, and decolonization;
  • skill sharing between campus population and the greater community;
  • increasing student involvement with VIPIRG and other local groups;
  • groups with limited access to other sources of funding.
